A glorious, bright autumn day today, with the flower cutting patch still in full abundance of flower. The cosmos, dahlias and zinnias all look particularly good at this time of year.
My favourites are Dahlia ‘Mexican star’, in rich crimson with a deep yellow centre, Zinnia ‘Hot pink’ and Cosmos ‘daydream’, which is a pale dreamy pink. I also love the zingy orange of tithonia.
In the veg patch, we’re still harvesting sweetcorn and beginning to pick the ripening squash and pumpkin.
I’m getting ready for the next gardening workshop on propagation, where we’ll be looking at taking cuttings of favourite plants for even more colour next year.
