Lore

October 2nd

I’ve just run the last workshop of the Autumn, ‘Growing bulbs as cut flowers‘.

We braved the rain for short bursts to wander round the cut flower garden and veg patch, and for the demonstration on how to plant tulips to get the best results.

Fortunately, there was the canopy to shelter under for the demonstration on how to make a bulb lasagne in a pot, and a discussion on the best varieties of bulbs to plant for cut flowers.

We looked at choosing the right tulips to be perennial, the best scented narcissi for planting in the ground and in pots and the best small bulbs for planting up in alpine pots as winter gifts.

Despite the rain, everyone left with great enthusiasm about getting stright to the garden centre to buy pots and compost for their bulbs.

If you’d be interested in joining us for a similar workshop, please contact me.
