Gardening

Perhaps you’d like to transform your garden into a spectrum of colour, scent, form and texture: buttery narcissi; silk tulips with acid green euphorbia; clove-scented sweet williams; frothy bishop’s flower; zingy orange tithonias; jewel-like zinnias; rich velvet dahlias.

Or maybe you’d love to grow a productive vegetable garden brimming with summer tomatoes, peppers, sweetcorn and squash, full of winter salads and fresh green kales and spinach. Or you’d like to learn about soil health, how to make your own compost, the benefits of mulching or what the ‘no-dig’ method is, and how to do it.

Gardening workshops

Do you want to learn to grow your own cut flowers? Or your own vegetables through all seasons of the year? Perhaps you’d like to learn how to improve your soil health, or how to propagate from cuttings?

I’m currently running covid-safe workshops, with a maximum of six people and based entirely outside (with an open-sided covered area if rainy), alongside online workshops consisting of small interactive groups, using Zoom as a platform.

New for 2021 will be the Grow Your Own Cut Flowers Weekend Retreat, which will give us the time and space to cover all aspects of growing.

Gardening courses

Garden consultation

If you want some help with designing a new garden, changing something or simply enhancing what you have, I have been offering garden consultations for over 20 years.

An initial consultation is followed up with suggested planting designs and plant lists together with photo examples to give you an idea of effect.

This could be it, or you may want me to source the plants and plant up for you also. Or perhaps you want a one-off troubleshooting or ideas consultation? Consultations can be live or online.

To ask about a consultation for your garden, please email me on vicky@vickythornton.co.uk or send me a message from my contact page.
